Eight individuals moving on to state

INDIANAPOLIS

Eight Johnson County individuals and one relay team are headed to the June 3 IHSAA Girls Track and Field State Finals.

The athletes earned those positions with top-three finishes in Tuesday night’s Warren Central Regional.

Center Grove and Franklin tied for fourth in the team standings with 44 points, while Greenwood was sixth with 33.

Franklin’s Kinsley Castro was the only regional champion Tuesday. Castro won the discus with a throw of 127 feet, 6½ inches.

Also for the Grizzly Cubs, Alexandra Parramore qualified with a third-place finish in the 300 hurdles in 47.74 seconds.

Greenwood’s Olivia Weston improved her sectional effort by 5 inches to place second in the high jump at 5-3. The Woodmen finished second in the 4×100 relay in 49.97, and Hanna Anderson took third in the 200 in 25.98.

Center Grove also had a pair of state qualifiers. Haley Goines finished third in the 100 hurdles in 15.66, and Valerie Clark was third in the 1,600 in 5:25.15.

Whiteland’s Kerrigan Miller qualified with a third-place finish in the long jump at 17-8¾. Greenwood Christian’s Allie Dalton took third in the 3,200 in 11:40.58.

Host Warren Central won the team title with 124 points to 54 for Franklin Central and 46 for Columbus North.
