YMCAs will celebrate Armed Forces Day by collecting items for care packages that will be sent to military service members overseas.
Donations will be collected through Monday at all YMCAs, including the southside Baxter Y, 7900 Shelby St., Indianapolis.
Armed Forces Day is Friday and is celebrated to pay honor to those who serve in the United States’ armed forces.
Items needed for the care packages include the following:
- Toiletries: Deodorant, soap, baby wipes, small packages of tissue, toothpaste
- Nonperishable snacks: Beef jerky, chips, protein bars, crackers, candy
- Hand-written notes
- Current magazines
