Motorcyclist hospitalized after accident during benefit ride

A man was hospitalized after he was hit during a motorcycle ride, just south of Franklin.

Ben Strickland, 51, Indianapolis, was turning onto U.S. 31 from State Road 252 during a benefit motorcycle ride.

Indianapolis resident Terrance Redmond, 23, was driving on U.S. 31 through the intersection when Strickland turned onto the highway. The motorcycle crossed into Redmond’s lane, according to the accident report from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

Redmond was not able to stop quick enough to avoid hitting Strickland, according to the accident report.

Strickland was taken to to Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis to be treated for a bump on his forehead. He has since been released, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
