Man arrested after stolen vehicle found

An Indianapolis man was arrested after police found a stolen vehicle.

Elijah S. Brooks, 19, 5131 Hodson Place, was arrested on charges of auto theft, driving without a license, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and three counts of possession of a controlled substance.

Just before 2:30 p.m. Saturday, a sheriff’s deputy stopped a vehicle on Nineveh Road that was listed as being stolen in a carjacking in Marion County, according to the police report.

Brooks, who was driving the vehicle, told the deputy more than one story about who the vehicle belonged to and how he got it, the report said.

Deputies also found prescription drugs and a glass smoking pipe in the vehicle, the report said.

After Brooks was arrested, a deputy found a bag of what appeared to be marijuana in his sock, and Brooks asked the deputy to hide it, the report said.

Brooks was arrested and held at the Johnson County jail on $6,400 bond.
