Franklin, New Whiteland get security grants

Two local communities have received grants to help them update security.

The city of Franklin received $3,992 for articulating flashlights and a windshield cutter kit.

The town of New Whiteland received $3,832 for personal protective equipment.

Both grants are through the Indiana Homeland Security Foundation.

Awards were given to 48 recipients in 36 counties. Recipients include local fire departments, emergency medical services, law enforcement and emergency management agencies in all 10 Indiana Department of Homeland Security districts.
