Bettie Lucille (Keil) Keenan

SUMMERFIELD, FLA.

Bettie Lucille (Keil) Keenan, 92, entered eternal life April 21, 2016.

She was born Nov. 23, 1923, in Indianapolis, where she lived until moving to Summerfield, Florida, three years ago.

Her brother James Edward Keil and sister, Helen Marie Keil preceded her in death.

She met her soulmate of 69 years while working at P.R. Mallory. Dr. George and Bettie were married Dec. 20, 1946, and had four children: James (Carol) Keenan, Marquis (Donna) Keenan, Karen (Joseph) Richeson and Kathy (Pierre) Baumes. She was blessed with nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

“Mama,” as she was known to her family, lovingly touched all who knew her.

Mrs. Keenan enjoyed the St. Francis Medical Auxiliary, the Eastern Star, bowling, delivering Meals on Wheels, homemakers clubs and playing cards. She was an avid bridge player.

She and Dr. George loved to entertain, especially at the beautiful lake home in Brown County.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel 481 W. Main St. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with calling from 10 a.m. to service time. Entombment will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested for The Keenan-Stahl Boys and Girls Club.
