Get splashed in green during 5K

A new 5K run/walk this summer will color runners and walkers with green for a good cause.

Color Me Green, a Purdue Extension and Indiana 4-H-sponsored color run/walk is being conducted across Indiana between March and July. The local event is July 9 at the Johnson County Fairgrounds.

Check-in and registration will start at 8:30 a.m. with the 5K run/walk starting at 9 a.m. A 1-mile family run/walk will start at 10 a.m.

Runners and walkers will be showered with green-colored powder at various stations along the path. The event is not timed and runners and walkers of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to participate. This event is open to all members of the community whether they’re involved with 4-H or not.

The first 50 participants to register will receive a free t-shirt.

 Pr-registration cost is $15 or $25 per family and is due to the extension office, 484 N. Morton St., Franklin by June 30.  Day-of registration cost is $20 per participant or $30 per family.
