Man arrested after tearing up center’s grass

A Greenwood man was arrested after police found him driving a car through a community center’s property.

Bryan B. Broaddus, 26, 4902 Walker St., was arrested on charges of criminal mischief and operating without a driver’s license, according to a report from the sheriff’s office.

A Johnson County sheriff’s deputy found Broaddus driving in circles on a field at the Smith Valley Community Center, located on Old Smith Valley Road in the Center Grove area, according to the report.

The deputy saw Broaddus drive onto the field, accelerating in circles, kicking up mud and dirt behind the vehicle, according to the report. Broaddus told police he recently repaired the vehicle’s four-wheel drive and was testing it out, according to the report.

The deputy then found out Broaddus did not have a driver’s license. Broaddus was arrested and taken to the Johnson County jail, where he was held on $2,000 bond.
