WHITELAND
James C. Toon, 73, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2016, in Franklin. He was a former resident of Whiteland for many years.
He was born Nov. 24, 1942, in Beech Grove to Elbert Toon and Edna (Williams) Moore. He married Glenda M. (Brunson) Toon on June 27, 1964. She lovingly survives in Franklin.
Jim also is survived by daughter, Lisa (Ron) Shaffer of Avon; son, James Toon (Rhonda Challman) of Franklin; grandchildren, Paige Ferrill, Courtney Toon, Anthony Cowan and Jeremy Toon and great-grandchild, Kyla Pickhardt and brother, Terry Toon.
He was preceded in passing by his parents; brother, Dick Toon and sister, Jackie Johnson.
Jim was a graduate of New Palestine High School. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
He was employed by Chrysler Automotive, retiring after 30 years of dedicated service. He later worked part-time at Greenwood Cemetery.
He was a member of the Greenwood American Legion Post No. 252.
Chris Ellis will conduct a celebration of Jim’s life at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St., (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to service time at the funeral home. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion and the United States Air Force.
