Joe D. Bryant, 75, of Whiteland, passed away Friday, April 22, 2016, at St. Vincent Seton Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was born Aug. 2, 1940, in Stearns, Kentucky, to Dolphus and Clara (Waters) Bryant. He married Betty F. (Taylor) Bryant on Nov. 23, 1959, in Jellico, Tennessee, she survives.

He was a member of Honey Creek United Methodist Church in Greenwood and the United Steel Workers Union.

He enjoyed fishing and watching western television shows. He worked from 1966 until retiring in 2001 from the Ball Corporation in Columbus as a forklift operator.

Survivors include his loving wife, Betty F. (Taylor) Bryant of Whiteland; two sons, Tim P. Bryant (Michelle L.) of New Whiteland and Mike A. Bryant (Susan R.) of New Whiteland; a special niece, Amy L. Foster of Greenwood and four grandchildren, David J. Bryant and Adam M. Bryant, both of Wewahitchka, Florida, Hannah N. Bryant and Taylor A. Bryant, both of New Whiteland; a great grandson, Gordon J. Bryant; a brother, Randy Bryant of Whitley City, Kentucky, and brother in-law, James Foster of Stearns, Kentucky.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother  and sister-in-law, Edward Bryant (Virginia-deceased); sister, Sue Foster and sister-in-law, Anna.

The Rev. Brad Miller will conduct a service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 U.S. 31 South (Morton Street) in Franklin. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
