Local VBS registration open

Families can register together for an upcoming vacation Bible school.SS Francis and Clare’s “Cave Quest”-themed school will be 6:30 to 8:15 p.m. June 14 to 16 at the church, 5901 Olive Branch Road, Greenwood.

Families are encouraged to register together, and the vacation bible school is open to adults.

Registration can be done at groupvbspro.com/vbs/ez/ssfcvbs2016.

Students can attend orchestra camp

Student music lovers can spend part of their summer at orchestra camp.Roncalli High School is hosting the Cathy Morris Orchestra Camp open to all violin, cello and bass players in grades 5 to 12.

The camp will be 9 a.m. to noon June 13 to 17.

The “More than Mozart, A Musical Adventure for Orchestra” camp includes a T-shirt, classes, rehearsals, original compositions by Cathy Morris and a concert performance at 11 a.m. June 17.

The fee for the camp is $75. The deadline to register is May 1.

Music students of the month announced

Greenwood Community High School educators are now honoring students of the month in music.The latest students of the month are:

Garrett Terhune, senior. Terhune plays tuba for the band. He has participated in wind ensemble, marching band, pep band and solo and ensemble for four years.

Rachel Turnbill, a sophomore, is a member of several choirs. She has participated in Rhapsody and Vocal Jazz at GHS. She was selected for the “Outstanding Rhapsody Freshman Award” in 2015.

Center Grove High School seniors are eligible for scholarships

Center Grove Zeta Lambda Chapter of Tri Kappa will award $1,000 scholarships to two Center Grove High School seniors.For more information and an application, students can contact their high school counselor.

Completed applications need to be submitted to the guidance office by Friday.

Middle school students can attend camp

Local middle school students interested in a job in law enforcement can explore the career field during a leadership camp this summer.The 37th annual Indiana Sheriff’s Youth Leadership Camp will be July 11 to 13 at Waycross Episcopal Camp near Morgantown.

The camp is for boys and girls in seventh or eighth grade.
