ce investigate reported threat

Police investigated a report of a possible threat at Franklin Community Middle School, but found nothing.

A student told family members Wednesday night about hearing a classmate say something about “shooting it up,” and the parents called police to report it. On Thursday morning, police went to the school and met with other students in the classroom at the time, but could not get concrete information on what was said or who said it, Franklin Police Deputy Chief Chris Tennell said.

School officials made sure to look into the report, but it was not substantiated, Superintendent David Clendening said.

The student did the right thing by notifying their parents about what they heard, Tennell said.
