Joel Hale bright April 20

Any publicity, the saying goes, is good publicity.

Especially when it comes from ESPN.

Joel Hale, a former standout football player at Center Grove High School, is featured in a photo (above) in the latest issue of ESPN The Magazine.

A 6-foot-4, 300-pound lineman, Hale is mentioned in an article about Ohio State University’s March 11 pro day, where 22 Buckeye seniors worked out for scores of NFL scouts in advance of the NFL Draft.

Hale, who was in the Buckeyes’ program for five years, played most of his career on the defensive line but is attempting to draw notice as an offensive lineman.

In the ESPN photo, shot during pro day at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center, Hale stares straight at the camera lined up at the center position.

Time will tell how much, if any, the publicity pays off by the time the three-day draft concludes April 30.

The rest is up to Hale.
