Thief breaks into home while resident sleeps

A Franklin woman called police after someone kicked in her door and stole her car while she slept.

The woman told police she went to bed Saturday around 9:30 p.m. and when she woke up Sunday, her back door was kicked in, electronics were missing and her car was gone, according to the report.

Police found a muddy footprint and the deadbolt removed on the back door of the home on Crescent Street, in a neighborhood off U.S. 31, and suspect the door was kicked in, the report said.

The woman’s blue four-door 2005 Dodge Neon, along with a Toshiba laptop, a pink Kindle Fire tablet and money from the woman’s purse were all missing, according to the report.

Police are investigating.
