26-year-old arrested after police find pills, marijuana during stop

An Edinburgh man was arrested after police found drugs and paraphernalia during a traffic stop.

Anthony Thurman, 26, 404 King St., was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia.

Just after 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, Thurman’s vehicle was stopped near U.S. 31 and Cedar Lane in Franklin, because his headlight was out. The officer then smelled marijuana, according to the report.

Police found two pipes while searching Thurman and the truck. Officers also found a marijuana cigarette, two pills and a bag with a powder substance, which was believed to be methamphetamine, the report said.

Thurman was taken to the Johnson County jail, where he was held on $5,200 bond.
