Appliances stolen from Center Grove area home

Police and firefighters went to a Center Grove area home after appliances were stolen, causing a gas leak.

Just after 6:30 p.m. Sunday, sheriff’s deputies were called to a home in the Mount Pleasant neighborhood, near Morgantown and County Line roads, on a report of two men seen loading a furnace into a vehicle. The home on Mount Pleasant Street is listed for sale, according to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office report.

Deputies did not find the vehicle at the home but did find both the front and back door open. The dishwasher and furnace were missing, and the gas line to the furnace was leaking gas, the report said.

Firefighters were called to the house, and the gas was shut off.

Police are investigating the theft.
