Edward Hudock

Edward Hudock, 90, passed away Monday, April 4, 2016, at home with his family.

He was born in Crown Point on Nov. 3, 1925, the son of the late John and Anna (Kovalchik) Hudock.

Edward served in the Merchant Marines during World War II, where he developed his interest in electronics and radio communication. He turned those interests into his hobby as an amateur radio operator and career in electrical engineering.

Edward earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois.

While at Michigan, he met Mary Duffy. They were married Oct. 6, 1951.

Edward spent much of his career in microwave communication, and antenna design for the Bendix Corporation and Rockwell Collins, where many of his designs were patented.

In 1981, Edward became the president and CEO of Microwave Devices Inc. in Franklin. He retired in 1996.

In his retirement years, Edward loved spending time with his dogs, working in the garden, remodeling his house, and cheering for his much-loved Michigan Wolverines.

He was an active member at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and The Knights of Columbus.

Edward is survived by his children, Barbara Smith of Goshen, Connecticut, Karen Haley and Mary Gail Hudock, both of Columbus, Paula Gallagher of Carlsbad, California, Jan Gray of Minneapolis, Minnesota and John Hudock of Indianapolis. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and his half-brother, Milan Paulic.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Delores and his beloved wife, Mary.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday at St. Rose Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the service time at the church. A reception will follow in Camelot Hall. There will be a rosary at St. Rose Catholic Church at 7 p.m. Friday. The internment will be in Hayward, Wisconsin.

Memorials may be made to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Franklin or the Interfaith Food Pantry of Johnson County, 211 Commerce Drive, Franklin, IN 46131.
