Juanita M. Murphy

GREENWOOD

Juanita M. Murphy, 88, was carried into Heaven by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, March 31, 2016.

She was born on July 26, 1927, to the dear departed Jason and Della Statom in Casey County, Kentucky.

Juanita married the love of her life, Kenneth Murphy on July 26, 1944. They were blessed with 56 years of marriage before the Lord called Kenneth home in December 2000.

At an early age, Juanita professed her faith in Jesus Christ. She accepted Christ as her Savior at Hustonville Baptist Church in Hustonville, Kentucky, where she served as a devoted member who truly loved the Lord.

After moving to Indianapolis, she became a member of University Heights Baptist Church, where sang in the choir and taught Sunday School for over 20 years. She later attended Friendship Baptist Church of Greenwood and Southside Bible Church.

She was a resident of Beech Grove, and then Country Charm Senior Care in Greenwood for 15 years.

Juanita sang the words by heart to countless hymns and greatly enjoyed music. She valued precious time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her generous spirit, bright countenance and infectious smile presented an example of a true, Godly woman. This Godly example will forever remain in the lives of all who were blessed to know Juanita. She will be dearly missed by her loved ones, who rejoice in the fact that she has reached a place of everlasting peace with her Heavenly Father.

Juanita leaves to treasure her memory, daughter Connie (Jeff) Fenimore; sisters Jewell Whitis, Lucy (Jim) Reed, Carolyn (Bob) Pruitt and Peggy (Paul) Reed, brother Eugene (Lois) Statom; grandchildren, Amy (Dean) Longfellow and Greg (Cathy) Lloyd; great-grandchildren Sean Longfellow and Jack Lloyd; and many adoring family members.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth Murphy; sisters Evelyn (Harley) Dawson, Chris (Ernest) Coffman, Trudy (Newell) Clark, Margaret (Bill) Campton, and brother Jerry Statom.

The Rev. Dan Johnson will conduct a service at 11:30 a.m. today at G.H. Herrmann Funeral Home, 1605 S. State Road 135, Greenwood. A graveside service will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery.
