Two arrested on charges of fleeing accident scene

A Franklin woman was arrested this week on charges of public intoxication and resisting police after a vehicle crash in Bartholomew County.

A 911 caller said that a vehicle was driving erratically near Schaefer Lake, just outside Hope, just before 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Judy Jackson said.

A short time later, deputies were sent to a single-vehicle accident at Daily Feed and Grain, 9040 E. 25th St., and were told two people had fled the scene, Jackson said.

Police found two people nearby who are suspected of being connected to the original report, she said.

Thomas Thompson, 28, Seymour, was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident and public intoxication, according to the sheriff’s department news release.

Tiara Wickliff, 22, Franklin, was arrested on charges of public intoxication and resisting law enforcement, the release said.

Thompson and Wickliff were taken to the Bartholomew County Jail. Thompson was held on $9,500 bond, and Wickliff was held on $8,500 bond.
