Tumbling FOR YOU

Daily Journal staff report

Gymnastics fans, are you ready to tumble?

If so, Franklin is the place to be this weekend.

Nearly 250 gymnasts from across the state will compete in the Indiana Men’s Gymnastics Championship on Saturday and Sunday at Franklin Community Middle School.

Hosted by the Indiana Gymnastics Center of Franklin, the two-day event features gymnasts ranging in ages from 7 to 18, including nearly 20 from Johnson County.

Athletes will compete for individual and team championships, in skill Levels 4 through 10, in seven events: floor exercise; pommel horse; still rings; vault; parallel bars; high bar; and all-around.

The tournament will determine which boys will advance to the Regional Championships for Levels 5 through 10. The Level 4 Indiana State Team also will be selected at the event.

Locally, 19 athletes from the IGC of Franklin will be competing. The ICG team is coached by gym owner Peter Robinson and his assistant coach, Patrick Hacker.

Robinson also will coach the Level 4 Indiana State Team when it is selected.
