JASPER
Clara L. Rhoades, age 69, of Jasper passed away at 3:57 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2016, at the Sentara Nursing & Hospice Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
She was born on Sept. 10, 1946, to John W. and Dorothea (Martindale) Patterson. She married James Rhoades Feb.15, 1969, at Naval Air Station in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania.
Clara was a homemaker and member of the Grace Community Church in Jasper.
She enjoyed the Outer Banks watching dolphins and was an avid bowler. Her Bible study was very dear to her.
Survivors include her husband, James H. Rhoades; daughter, Kristina Jones of Virginia Beach, Virginia; brother, James Patterson and his wife Shelley of Jasper and two grandchildren Adam and Kyle.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper with burial to follow in Shiloh Cemetery. The Rev. Jim Neely will officiate. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
