FRANKLIN
Susan M. (Smith) Brown, 47, of Franklin, passed away Feb. 23, 2016, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin.
She was born Oct. 16, 1968, in Beech Grove, to James E. and Peggy (Zavodny) Smith. She married Joseph E. Brown on Oct. 25, 1985, in Indianapolis.
She was a 1987 graduate of Center Grove High School. She had been a caregiver for Home Instead Health Care in Greenwood. She enjoyed puzzle books, reading books, watching Charles Stanley ministries and traveling to Florida and enjoying the beach.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph E. Brown of Franklin; daughter, Melissa Quackenbush (Evan) of Franklin; sons, Thomas Brown (Katie McGill) of Indianapolis, Timothy Brown (Jamye) of Greenwood, Matthew Brown (Kayla) of Franklin; daughter, Ashley Brown of Franklin; parents, James E. Smith Jr. and Peggy (Zavodny) Smith of Greenwood; a sister, Carrie Oster (Jeff) of Frederick, Colorado; brothers, James E. Smith III (Danielle) of Greenwood, Stephen Smith (Alicia) of Franklin; seven grandchildren; and 26 nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 U.S. 31 South (Morton Street) in Franklin. Calling will be from 1 p.m. to service time Saturday at the funeral home. A Celebration of Life service will be at 5 p.m. Sunday at Carefree Clubhouse, 1202 Leisure Lane, Greenwood.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made at the funeral home.
