Johna Mae (Jewell) Bowman

Johna Mae (Jewell) Bowman, 89, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2016, in Indianapolis. She was a lifelong resident of Franklin.

She was born on Nov. 20, 1926, in Franklin to John and Vivian (Lee) Jewell). She married Lennis Lloyd Bowman on July 17  1941. They celebrated 71 years of marriage. He preceded her in passing in 2012.

Johna Mae is survived by one daughter, Priscilla Ann Abercrombie of Franklin; two granddaughters, Libby (Mike) Deckard) of Franklin and Sara (Kerry) Atwood of Franklin; great-grandchildren, Josh (Brett) Deckard, Jeni (John) Branstetter, Jacob (fiancé, Molly Rhoades) Deckard, Casandra (Kortea) Johnson and Janelle (John) Rowe. Also surviving are 10 great-great grandchildren; one sister, Juanita (Larry) McKee and one brother, Robert (Janet) Jewell.

She was preceded in passing by her parents; step-father, George Jewell; husband, Lennis; son-in-law, Charles Barry Abercrombie; and sisters, Ruth Mitchell, Marge Coffey and Carolyn Sue Peterson.

Johna Mae was a homemaker. Her love and passion in life was serving the Lord and being surrounded by her loving daughter, granddaughters and great-grandchildren.

The Rev. John Stephenson and Rev. Douglas McKee will conduct a celebration of Johna Mae’s life at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Apostolic Gospel Church, 5557 State Road 44 E., Franklin. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to service time Saturday at the church. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
