Fundraiser aims to help at-risk kids through art

A nonprofit dedicated to helping troubled youth through art therapy will host a fundraiser this weekend.

The nonprofit, Peace of heART created a program at the Johnson County Juvenile Detention Center where an art teacher facilitates art projects to help at-risk kids express themselves in a therapeutic way.

The program began recently and continues Thursdays through April 7.

To help the program continue, a fundraiser at Hillview Country Club will be at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Entertainment will include live music by Cadillac Scott and the Snakehandlers band. There will also be a silent auction, cash bar and appetizers.
