Terry L. Pruitt

GREENSBURG

Terry L. Pruitt, age 69, died on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016, at Arbor Grove in Greensburg.

Terry was born Nov. 14, 1946, in Shelbyville, the son of Ernest L. Pruitt and Dorothy Steele Pruitt.

He graduated from Edinburgh High School in 1965 and joined the U.S. Air Force in 1966. He served four years in the air force, stationed in Dover, Delaware and Mildenhall, England. He repaired props on the C130 planes. He was sent to Athens, Greece, Sicily, Norway and Turkey to work on planes that required repairs.

He retired from Cummins Engine Co. in 2002 after 31 years of service. In 1985 he received a reward for submitting a cost-saving suggestion to Cummins.

He enjoyed following the Pittsburgh Steelers and Indianapolis Colts. He also enjoyed hunting as a boy on his grandfather Clell’s farm in Johnson County.

Terry is survived by his daughter, Tonya Renee Shewmake and her husband, Chris of Columbus, and his son Eric R. Pruitt of Louisville, Kentucky. He is also survived by his brother, Larry E. Pruitt of Boynton Beach, Florida; and Robert C. Ackerman, a close friend of the family. Also surviving are grandchildren Olivia Jan Shewmake, Lydia Drew Alberts, Elaina Brooke Shewmake, Caleb Christopher Shewmake and Sarah Lauren Shewmake.

He was predeceased by his parents.

Terry attended Amity Baptist Church with his parents for many years, receiving several yearly pins for never missing a Sunday. He went forward at a Billy Graham Crusade when he was a child. As a young adult, he attended New Hope Christian Church.

Calling will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home, 302 E. Main Cross St., Edinburgh. The Rev. Roger Andrew McDaniel will conduct the funeral service at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
