Center Grove earns top honors at show choir invitational

Local choirs students showed off their vocal and dancing skills at a show choir invitational in Franklin.

The Debtones of Center Grove High School received first runner-up in the women’s division at Showfest at Franklin Community High School. They also won a caption award for Best Tech Crew.

The schools’ mixed choir, Sound System, also won first runner-up in the large mixed division and won a caption award for Best Vocals.

Sophomore Kaitlynn Siemons was named outstanding performer for The Debtones.

Senior Katie Swaney was named outstanding soloist in the show, and sophomore Alie Kryder was named Outstanding Performer for Sound System.

Center Grove’s Junior Varsity Women’s Choir, Accents, was named grand champion in the festival division. Freshman Michelle Poe was named outstanding performer. Accents also received Caption Awards for Outstanding Visuals and Outstanding Vocals.

Surround Sound, Center Grove’s varsity mixed choir, earned first runner-up.

Sophomore Sydney Carlsgaard was named outstanding performer for Surround Sound, and junior Taylor Ward was named outstanding soloist in a show.

Rhythm Masters show choir and Shades of Blue concert choir of Whiteland Community High School both snagged third place in their divisions.

Junior Alexa Davis won second place in the solo competition, and Savannah Craven was awarded Rhythm Masters best performer. The Rhythm Movers took the Best Tech Crew award, and Rhythm Makers were awarded Best Band.

Indian Creek did not competed. Choirs at Franklin Community High School performed in exhibition at their invitational.
