Wilma L. (Dukes) Harmening

FRANKLIN

Wilma L. (Dukes) Harmening, 75, of Franklin, went home to heaven on Friday Feb. 12, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.

Wilma was born Dec. 13, 1940, in Beech Grove to James and Barbara L. (Johnson) Dukes.

She married Charles William “Bill” Harmening on May 18, 1963, in Indianapolis; they were married for 52½  years.

Wilma was employed with Kroger for 13 years, until retiring in 1985 then changing careers becoming a real estate broker for Berkshire-Hathaway Reality Group South. After 28 years of service, she retired due to illness in 2015. She received many real estate awards during her career.

She enjoyed traveling, family trips to Florida and feeding birds in her yard. Wilma loved watching Jeopardy, going to the grandkids’ ballgames and taking pictures of homes prior to selling.

She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Franklin and Metropolitan Board of Brokers.

Wilma is survived by her husband, Bill Harmening Sr. of Franklin; three children, Julie L. (Parvin) Tinkle of Franklin, Anna L. (Jeff) Reynolds of Greenwood and Charles W.(Tina) Harmening Jr. of Whiteland; 13 grandchildren, Robert W. Harmening, Andrea D. (Scott) Harmening, Brittany L. Tinkle, Lyndsay A. Tinkle, Jordan L. Tinkle, Kelsey R. Tinkle, T. J. Robey, Tony Robey, Katherine E. Reynolds, Jeffrey W. Reynolds, Charles, B. Harmening, Brooke N. Harmening and Kyle A. Harmening; three great-grandchildren, Lillian, Abigail and Brandon Harmening; and life long special friend, Linda Rose (Don) Beard of Indianapolis.

She will be greatly missed by her two dogs, Buddy and Ginger.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; and daughter, Tina M. Harmening.

A mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Roch Catholic Church, 3608 S. Meridian St., Indianapolis. A visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Jessen Funeral Home, Franklin Chapel, 197 E. Jefferson St. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Franklin or the Humane Society of Johnson County.
