BEECH GROVE

Linda Thora Tobman, 71, passed away Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016, in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Beech Grove and formerly of New Whiteland.

Linda was born Sept. 28, 1944, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Gilbert and Helen (Smith) Brooks.

She graduated from Free Gospel Bible Institute in Pennsylvania.

She was a missionary for over 20 years, serving in Taiwan. She taught English to young children while in Taiwan and became very close to many of them.

Linda enjoyed reading the Bible, cooking, canning, shopping and helping others. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by three children, Robert Scott (Lisa) Tobman of Beech Grove, Deborah Michelle (Ed) Lemond of Jasper and Sarah Davina (Don) Nation of Utah; five sisters, Judith Hubbard and Joan (Gene) Teal both of Illinois, Brenda (Ken) Smith of Indiana, Carol (Larry) Fauts of Mishawaka, Karen (Steve) Spradlin of Boonville; three brothers, Donald (Pat) Brooks of Newburgh, James “Jim” (Vickie) Brooks of Illinois and Tom Brooks of New Zealand; nine grandchildren, James, Michelle, Faith, Sarah, Joshua Matthew, Holly, Ivy and Tyler; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Bob Tobman.

A funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Shelby Street Pentecostal Lighthouse Church, 8620 S. Shelby St., Indianapolis, with visitation from 4 p.m. until time of service at the church. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Zion Cemetery near Eby.
