Area show choirs earn honors

Local show choirs sang and danced their way to top spots in recent competitions.

The Debtones of Center Grove High School won grand champion in the unisex division and Sound System also won the top award in the mixed division at Edgewood High School during the weekend.

The Debtones also won caption awards for outstanding visual, outstanding vocals, and senior Nicki Meyer was named outstanding performer.

Sound System received awards for outstanding vocals. Sophomore Sarah Anderson won best female soloist in the mixed show, and senior Katie Swaney was named outstanding performer.

The Rhythm Masters of Whiteland Community High School snagged third runner-up.

Franklin Community High School’s choir placed second in the Silver Spotlight Invitational at Fishers High School on Jan. 30. Jaxson Deno placed third overall in the solo competition.

Choir students from Indian Creek High School performed in a non-judged showcase in Austin.

Greenwood Community High School does not have a show choir. Results were not available from Edinburgh Community High School.

Franklin Community High School will host Whiteland and Center Grove among other choirs at a show choir competition Friday and Saturday.
