Ice cream shop, thrift store planned

This spring, people will be able to grab an ice cream cone and shop for upcycled furniture when a former police department gets a makeover.

Leo and Kim Brosnan of Greenwood have purchased the former New Whiteland police station, 300 Tracy Road.

The couple is transforming the space into Scoops & Treasures, an upscale thrift shop that also will sell ice cream.

The Brosnans were looking to invest in real estate and have a booth at a flea market in Greenwood. They saw customers filtering in and saw how well the business did. They decided to purchase the former police station to start their own store.

“It’s in a great spot; it’s in a neighborhood; a lot of people can walk there,” said Kim Brosnan.

They are gutting the station and making improvements for an opening to coincide with the first day of little league in Whiteland. They also are looking for people who want to sell their goods, such as upcycled furniture, gifts and crafts, in the shop.
