Michael E. Leslie, 63, of Greenwood, passed away Monday, Feb. 1, 2016, at his residence.

He was born May 24, 1952, in Indianapolis to Ernest and Margaret (Neeley) Leslie.

He married Nicole S. (Buchweitz) Leslie on Feb. 15, 2002, in Indianapolis; she survives.

He was a 1970 graduate of Ben Davis High School and a U.S. Army veteran.

He had been a shop foreman for Rollins Construction in Indianapolis for 10 years and previously was a self-employed carpenter.

He was a member of Mount Auburn United Methodist Church in Stones Crossing, Greenwood.

He was a private pilot, flying at the Greenwood Airport.

He enjoyed ’60s and ’70s rock-and-roll music and the family dog, Maggie.

Survivors include his wife, Nicole S. (Buchweitz) Leslie of Greenwood; children Mike E. Leslie (Maureen) of Castleton, Zach T. Leslie (Jami) of Noblesville, Mallory S. Distler (Matt Barton) of Berlin, Maryland, abd Tyler M. Distler (Stacey Allison) of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Ryan M. Leslie and Ethan N. Leslie, both of Noblesville, and Khloe Distler and Mylee Allison of Indianapolis; his father Ernest Leslie of Indianapolis; brother, Herk Leslie of Avon; sisters, Cathy Phillips (Vern) of Avon and Linda Watson of Clearwater, Florida; and mother-in-law, Janet Buchweitz of Greenwood.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret (Neeley) Leslie; and father-in-law, Wolfgang Buchweitz.

The Rev. Jeff Buck will conduct a memorial service at 7 p.m. Friday at Mount Auburn United Methodist Church, 3100 W. Stones Crossing Road, Greenwood, where the family will receive friends from 3 p.m. Friday until the service time.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the St. Francis Oncology Center, 5225 E. Stop 11 Road, Indianapolis, IN 46237, and make checks payable to the Franciscan Alliance Foundation, attn: Michael E Leslie memorial.

The family wishes to acknowledge and express their gratitude to the St. Francis Oncology Center for all the care that was given.
