Steven Andrew Smith

INDIANAPOLIS

Steven Andrew Smith, 69, died Thursday Jan. 28, 2016, in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Indianapolis and formerly of Steinhatchee, Florida.

Steve was born July 10, 1946, in Indianapolis.

He was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran, serving two tours in Vietnam.

Steve was employed in the foundry at International Harvester for 15 years.

While living in Florida, he was known as the handyman, repairing and fixing anything. He also was a landscaper and good at detailing lawns. He enjoyed fishing and was a first mate on a fishing charter boat.

Steve had a passion for Harley Davidson motorcycles and enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He volunteered at the fire department in Steinhatchee, Florida.

Steve was very involved in helping and serving in Alcoholics Anonymous.

He is survived by his daughter, Nikki Sgro of Portsmouth, New Hampshire; brother, Michael Smith of Indianapolis; sister, Patti (Tim) Twyman of Greenwood; nephews, Joel Smith and Samuel Smith; and niece, Tamara Twyman.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Giroud and her husband, William J. Giroud.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel, 729 U.S. 31 North. A celebration of life service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Grace Evangelical Church, 5905 E. Southport Road, Indianapolis.
