Poor shooting dooms Lancers

Daily Journal staff report

The Edinburgh girls basketball team lost 53-30 against visiting Mid-Hoosier Conference rival North Decatur on Thursday night.

Although the Lancers took good care of the ball with only 13 turnovers, they struggled throughout the game offensively.

Edinburgh made only 12 of 50 shots from the field and had no player reach double-figure scoring.

Junior Allie Schooler led the Lancers with eight points.

“We just had a poor shooting night,” Edinburgh coach Amy Macy said. “You’re not going to win too many ball games shooting like that.”

With the loss, the Lancers fall to 7-13 overall and 2-6 in the conference.

The defeat comes two days after Edinburgh halted a four-game skid with a 55-42 win against South Decatur.

Edinburgh, with only two regular-season games left to play, has lost eight of its past 10 games.

The Lancers’ next game is Jan. 26 against visiting Waldron.
