Car goes airborn; three teens hurt

Three teens were injured when the car they were riding in hit a sign and went airborne.

The teens were all taken to the hospital early Saturday.

Police are investigating the crash and did not release the teens’ names.

The teens’ vehicle was driving west on Smith Valley Road near Sutton Drive in Greenwood at 2:27 a.m. Saturday when the car’s side mirror clipped a speed limit sign, according to a report from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

The vehicle then went up an embankment, went 30 feet in the air, landed in a driveway and continued through a yard. The vehicle then went back across Smith Valley Road and landed in a yard in the 500 block of Homestead Lane, the report said.

Two teens had facial bleeding. One teen had neck bleeding, the report said.
