FC women lose road game against Pioneers

LEXINGTON, Ky.

The Franklin College women’s basketball team lost its first Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference road contest in 76-60 contest to Transylvania University on Wednesday.

Junior Kayle Comer scored a season-high 21 points and connected on five 3-point field goals. Senior Katie Brewer added 14 points. Junior Emily Alfrey scored nine points, while freshman Maddie O’Day rounded out the offensive attack with eight points.

Transylvania shot 48.3 percent in the contest and made 11 of 29 3-point field goals.

The Pioneers led 20-13 after the first quarter and led 38-24 after the first 20 minutes. Transylvania scored 22 points during the third quarter to secure the victory.

Franklin returns to action at 1 p.m. Saturday when it hosts Anderson University.
