William George Johnson Jr.

GREENWOOD

William George Johnson Jr., 85, of Greenwood, went to be with the Lord and his heavenly family on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016.

He was born on April 2, 1930, to the late William G. Johnson Sr. and Maude E. Grosjean Johnson.

Bill co-owned B.J. Concessions for 40 years with his wife, Imogene. They operated at Butler University for 22 years and also the Marion County Fairgrounds and Long Acre Pool.

He was an active member of Greenwood Christian Church.

Bill was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.

He was an avid Butler, Pacers, Colts and Reds fan.

Survivors include four children, Linda G. Johnson, Jeffrey L. Johnson (Shelly), Lori A. Whyde (Tom) and Scott W. Johnson; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers-in-law, Charles Burgess, David Clarke and Don Stonehouse, sister-in-law, Gayle Hardt; and dearest family friend, Joyce Lewallen.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Imogene Johnson.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at G.H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home at The Gardens at Olive Branch, 1605 S. State Road 135. The Revs. Shan Rutherford and Perry Anderson will conduct the service at 11:30 a.m Friday at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to Martha’s Circle or Keenagers at Greenwood Christian Church, in care of the funeral home.
