Melvin Luke Babbs

GREENWOOD

Melvin Luke Babbs, 67, of Greenwood, passed away Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016.

He was born Jan. 29, 1948, in Franklin, to Melvin A. Babbs and Katherine Sanders Babbs.

He proudly served his country in the National Guard.

He was a graduate of Whiteland High School, and he retired after 36 years from Pepsi-Cola.

He enjoyed fishing, NASCAR and loved to draw.

Survivors include three daughters, Tracy (Chris) Vance, Shelley (Troy) Kolthoff and Amy (Bill) Haas; nine grandchildren, Katelyn, Jacob, Madison, Gabrielle, Aaron, Gracie, Luke, Jonah and Andrew; his sister, Kathy (Keith) Bolin; three nieces, Jyll, Ashley and Kylee; and two nephews, Zack and Korey.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Karen Babbs; his mother, Katherine Babbs; and his brother, Myke Babbs.

Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at G.H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home, 1605 S. State Road 135, with the service at 7 p.m. Private burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or American Heart Association, in care of the funeral home.
