Mary E. (Antrim) Mayo

WHITELAND

Mary E. (Antrim) Mayo, age 87, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, Jan. 4, 2016, at Morning Pointe of Franklin. She was a resident of Whiteland.

Mary was born in Indianapolis on June 29, 1928, to the late Clarence O. and Hilda (Shotts) Antrim. She married Raymond E. Mayo on Jan. 16, 1955 in Indianapolis. He preceded her in death on Oct. 23, 2002, after 47 loving years of marriage.

She was a loving homemaker and worked as a cook during the 1970s and ’80s at the Grove Restaurant in Beech Grove. Mary also enjoyed working on the Mayo family farm at Red’s Coroner in Johnson County.

She will be remembered for her love of family and her sense of humor. Mary enjoyed traveling, especially cruising and wintering in North Fort Myers. Mary also enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting and collecting lighthouses and owls.

She is survived by her children, Charles Spall of Sarasota, Florida, Terrell (Lisa) Spall of Franklin, Verna Hunter of Indianapolis and Kathy Wilder of Greenwood; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by siblings, Jean Denny, Clarence “Tom” Antrim Jr. and William H. Antrim.

The Rev. Burt Brock will conduct a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Friday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Home, 481 W. Main St., Greenwood. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
