Lillian Lucille Black, 86, of Hanover, died Friday, Dec. 25, 2015, at Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.

Lillian was a 35-year resident of Greenwood and a proud Greenwood Community High School Marching Woodmen band parent from 1974 to 1978.

She was born March 7, 1929, in Hanover, to John and Evelyn Quirin Warman. She was a 1947 graduate of Hanover High School. She was the 1947 Miss Madison beauty pageant winner and assisted in a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating removal of the toll on the Madison-Milton Bridge.

After retirement, she lived in California and Oregon for 25 years, before returning to Hanover in August 2015. She was a 45-year member of Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 390 and Phi Beta Psi sorority, both in Greenwood.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Black, whom she married Dec. 24, 1950; one daughter, Kathy Black of Albuquerque, New Mexico; one sister, Betty Adams of Hanover; and grandchildren, Robert Saunders of San Jose, California, and Pamela Saunders of Champaign, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

The funeral will be in Hanover at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Lytle Funeral Homes, Vail’s on Michigan Road, 117 Holt Drive in Madison. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and from noon until the service time Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Sharon Hill Cemetery in Lexington.
