Venus Lydia Marrero de Lindsey

Venus Lydia Marrero de Lindsey, 80, passed away peacefully Thursday, Dec. 24, 2015, at her home in Franklin.

She was born Dec. 2, 1935, in Coamo, Puerto Rico, to the late Juan V. Marrero and Maria de Jesus.

Venus was a graduate of the San Juan City Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse until the birth of her first child and then became a stay-at-home mom.

Venus is survived by her husband of more than 54 years, Gerald “Jerry”; three children, Gary, Charles “Tony” and Lynda Weide (David); five grandchildren, Jessica Isaacs (Greg), Eric Weide (Jen), Juliana Wiegele (Michael), Ian Weide (Elysia) and Jenna Lindsey; and one great-granddaughter Elise Isaacs. She also leaves five sisters, Dharma, Mercedes, Gloria, Felicita and Norma and brothers, Pablo, Jorge, and Juan Valentin.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Angel.

Venus loved being with her family, working in her flower beds, and doing her Rosary during her daily walks.

She was a faithful Roman Catholic and long-time member of St Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Franklin.

She loved the game of baseball and was a loyal fan of the Cincinnati Reds.

A memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Franklin. There will be a private burial at Hurricane Cemetery after the service. There will be no visitation and no viewing.

Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin are handling arrangements.
