WHITE RIVER TOWNSHIP
Bertha L. (Walker) Durant, 103, lifelong resident of White River Township, passed away Monday, Dec. 21, 2015, at Greenwood Village South Health Pavilion.
She was born Sept. 19, 1912, in White River Township to William Forrest Walker and Ada (Smith) Walker. She was a 1930 graduate of Center Grove High School.
She married Don Durant; he preceded her in death in 1991.
She had worked for Real Silk in Indianapolis and the Indiana State Department of Health.
She had attended Fairview Methodist Church in Greenwood.
Survivors include her nephew, William “Bill” Walker (Mary Lue) of Greenwood; great-nephew, Brian Walker (Michelle) of Greenwood; a great-great-niece, Kaitlynn Walker, and a great-great-nephew, Garrett Walker, both of Greenwood.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers, Chester Walker and Forrest Walker.
The Rev. Ben Greenbaum will conduct a graveside service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, 734 N. Morgantown Road, Greenwood.
Arrangements are being handled by Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center in Franklin.
