Junior’s effort not enough for FC men

Junior guard Aaron Mann scored a career-high 33 points in the Franklin College men’s basketball team’s 92-76 nonconference loss Monday night at Wabash College.

The Grizzlies cut a nine-point halftime deficit to three points, 61-58, after a three-point play by Mann at the 9:05 mark. The play capped an 8-0 Franklin run.

However, Wabash (6-4) answered with seven straight points to push the lead to 68-58 with 7:18 left. The Little Giants used a 16-4 run after the Grizzlies got within three points to secure the victory.

Mann tallied 14 of his 33 points from the free throw line, where he was including 14 of 16.

Mann has established a career-high scoring performance in consecutive games after scoring 32 points at Thomas More College on Saturday. Mann was named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Men’s Basketball Player of the Week on Monday.

Senior Matt Niehoff scored 16 points for the Grizzlies, and Trae Washington added 13 points.

Franklin (1-9) returns to action Jan. 2 against visiting Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference rival Bluffton.
