FRANKLIN

Daniel D. Hardin, 65, of Franklin, passed away Thursday, Dec. 17, 2015, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin.

He was born June 25, 1950, in Indianapolis to Kenneth W. and Mary Lynn (Deer) Hardin.

He married Karen S. (McGinnis) Hardin on Feb. 14, 1998, at Tabernacle Christian Church in Franklin; she survives.

He was a 1968 graduate of Franklin Community High School and was a graduate of Ball State University, where he received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

He was a lifelong member of Tabernacle Christian Church in Franklin, where he was a member of the board, moderator and director and a former elder. He enjoyed the children’s services and music at the church.

After graduating college, he was a seventh- and eighth-grade mathematics teacher at Custer Baker Middle School in Franklin. He then was an accounting specialist for more than 30 years for Raytheon Technical Services Co. (formerly known Naval Avionics) in Indianapolis from 1979 until his retirement in 2014.

He was an IHSAA girls high school volleyball referee.

Survivors include his wife, Karen S. (McGinnis) Hardin of Franklin; a brother, Bill R. Hardin of Greenwood; twin brother, David F. (Debbie) Hardin of Corydon; two nephews, Brandon Hardin and Brent Hardin, both of Corydon; a niece, Jennifer McGinnis Smith of Fishers; a brother in-law, Rex McGinnis of Franklin; a sister in-law, Judy McGinnis of Franklin; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pastor Evie Stuard will conduct a funeral service  at 11 a.m. Monday at Tabernacle Christian Church, 198 N. Water St. in Franklin. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 S.  Morton St. (U.S. 31 South) in Franklin. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
