GREENWOOD
Phoebe Jane Allen, 89, of Greenwood, went to Heaven to be with the Lord on Sunday, Dec. 13, 2015, at her Greenwood home surrounded by her family.
She was born March 31, 1926. Her parents were Hugh Hammons and Martha (Bruner) Hammons.
She married Jim Marion Allen on June 21, 1941, in Jelico, Tennessee; and he preceded her in death.
She had four children, Carol (Neal) Cockrell of Greenwood, Howard Allen (Judy) of Bargersville, Ray Vasco Allen (the late Barb) of Brazil and Larry Allen (Judy) of Bargersville; 10 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by a son, James Ben Allen.
She was employed by Proffitt Foods at Allison plant 7 and also employed and retired from Meijer.
She was a wonderful Christian woman, who loved her family and the Lord with all her heart. She was a member of Southport Church of the Nazarene.
A celebration of life service will be conducted at noon Wednesday at Southport Church of the Nazarene, 920 E. Southport Road, Indianapolis. Friends may call from 5 to 8:30 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to G.H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home, 1605 S. State Road 135, at Olive Branch Road.
