Parking prohibited on portion of Greenwood street

For several residents in a Greenwood subdivision, parking on the street no longer will be allowed.

The Greenwood City Council approved a parking restriction in a neighborhood off Howard Road, between Main Street and Fry Road. Cars no longer can park on both sides of Maple Street and Lindenwood Drive between 1070 Maple Street and 751 Lindenwood Drive. Maple Street and Lindenwood Drive merge into one another at a sharp curve.

When cars are parked on both sides of the street, motorists can’t see children playing or crossing the street and oncoming traffic around the corner is hard to see. Buses also have a hard time getting through, city council member Ron Bates said.

The council unanimously approved the restriction. People who park on the street between the two addresses can now be ticketed and required to pay a fine, Bates said.
