GREENWOOD
Fredie C. “Fred” Mize, Greenwood, died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015, at the age of 100.
He was born on Feb. 27, 1915, to the late William A. and Minnie J. Harris Mize in Pulaski County, Kentucky.
Fred retired from Allison Division of General Motors after 20 years.
He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and fishing with his boys.
He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Fred was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Edna Christine Mize; a son, Gary Mize; and nine siblings.
He is survived by four sons, Larry (Glendora) Mize, Jim Mize, Stephen (Joyce) Mize and Philip (Sonia) Mize; three daughters, Janet Chaney, Judy (Carl) Hancock and Jane (Eric) Weaver; 29 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel, 481 W. Main St. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
