Emmett ‘Loren’ Stewart

Emmett “Loren” Stewart, 82, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015, in Nineveh. He was a resident of Brown County.

Loren was born March 31, 1933, in Knox County, Kentucky, to Emmett N. and Dorothy Marie (Baker) Stewart.

He married Viola Wilkerson on Aug. 4, 1951, in Fairfield; they were married for 64 years.

Loren was employed with CSX Railroad in Beech Grove for 13 years and then with Frontier Trading Post as a welder in Waverly for 15 years, retiring in 1996.

He enjoyed mushroom hunting and working on his cars and loved to play his guitar.

He was a member of Neighborhood Church of God in Nineveh for 60-plus years.

He is survived by his wife, Viola Stewart of Nineveh; five children, Sharon (Steve) Griggs of Kentucky, Linda (Thomas) Drollinger and Alice Cox, both of Indianapolis, Beverly Murray of Franklin and Randy (Sheila) Stewart of Prince’s Lakes; five sisters; two brothers; nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; a sister; and a great-grandson, Dylan Cox.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Jessen Funeral Home, Trafalgar Chapel, 800 W. Pearl St. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Nineveh Cemetery.
