Horace Raymond ‘HR’ Vawter

MORGANTOWN

Horace Raymond “HR” Vawter, 61, passed away Monday evening, Nov. 30, 2015, at his home in Morgantown.

He was born in Bloomington on April 22, 1954, to his parents, the late Raymond Horace and Dorothy (Lawhorn) Vawter.

HR was a 1974 graduate of Brown County High School and started his working career with Arvin Industries in Franklin as a forklift operator. He moved on in the 1980s to work for Hickman Trailer Sales in Morgantown and also served as a deputy for the Morgantown Police Department during that time. In 2014, he retired from the sales department of Camping World, formerly Stout’s RV, in Greenwood.

HR is survived by his loving wife, Barbara J. Vawter, whom he married on April 23, 1994, in Morgantown; children, Timothy R. (Kathleen) Vawter of Brown County and Vicki L. (Chris Etzel) King of Indianapolis; brother, Victor R. “Chains” (Brenda Lakes) Vawter of Morgantown; grandchildren, Jordan L. Vawter and Bryson Raymond Edward Vawter, both of Brown County, Isabella Charlie Rose Vawter of Indianapolis, Dixieann Sue Vawter of Morgantown, Christofer D. Vance and Ashton L. Vance, both of Greenwood, and Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Jordan L. Crawford of Indianapolis.

HR was preceded in death by a sister, Louella Hunt.

He enjoyed collecting antique tractors, toys and going fishing.

The Rev. Stephanie Dolzall will conduct a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry St., Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
