Franklin man sentenced in insurance fraud case

A Franklin man was sentenced to home detention and ordered to repay more than $37,000 after he pleaded guilty to unemployment insurance fraud.

Kevin W. Davis, 36, pleaded guilty to two felony counts of unemployment insurance fraud in Marion County this week.

A state investigator found that Davis was working full time, while also collecting unemployment benefits, according to a news release from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. The state gets wage reports and information about new hires from Indiana employers to ensure people are not collecting unemployment benefits while working.

Davis was sentenced to one year on home detention and five years of probation and ordered to reimburse the state $37,987.50 in benefits collected, the release said.
