Leaf collector tipped over

Traffic was stopped, redirected and moved down to one lane after a trailer fell over on State Road 135.

Greenwood city employees were driving a truck with a leaf collector hitched to the back around 12 p.m. Friday, when they tried to turn onto Stella Street. The leaf collection trailer was top heavy and turned on its side, Greenwood Police Department Assistant Chief Matt Fillenwarth said.

Once the trailer tipped over, all southbound lanes of State Road 135 were blocked by the leaf collector, which was damaged in the accident.

The northbound lanes on State Road 135 were merged into one while police officers directed traffic through the intersection. Drivers heading south were redirected behind Arni’s restaurant on Curry Road, and were able to get back on State Road 135 from Devonshire Drive.
